Peenyans headed to the “Samraksha” Thalassemia Day Care Centre at Rashtrotthana Blood Bank in Chamarajpet, Bangalore.
The waiting room at the centre was abuzz with children running from one corner to the other with anxious parents watching over them carefully.
Thalassemia is a genetic disorder that has no cure except for a bone marrow transplant to treat Thalassemia Major. For patients from the marginalized section, this is a huge financial burden. Rotary Bangalore Peenya donated medicines worth Rs 20,000/- to Rashtrotthana Blood Bank to help the patients to a certain extent. Charter President Rtn Mallappa donated Rs 25,000/- to the centre on the occasion.
